Channel 3 is The Library Channel, and its primary purpose is to extend access to library programs and to promote reading and use of the library. The Library Channel also records educational and cultural events, speakers and public forums of enduring interest. It offers the citizens of Bloomington and Monroe County a blend of local, national and international educational, arts and cultural programming. Additionally, the Library Channel provides announcements about library services, upcoming library programs, the use of library meeting rooms by nonprofit organizations, and announcements of local educational and cultural events.
Channel 96 is SCOLA International News,
a satellite servuce featuring news telecasts from around the globe.
Channel 7 is The Public Channel, and it represents a constitutional forum for citizens of Bloomington and Monroe County. All programs on this channel are produced or donated by citizens of Bloomington and Monroe County. It is our mission and pleasure to help patrons of the Monroe County Public Library express themselves on Channel 7.
CATS has Master Controllers (station operators), Production Assistants (field staff), and full time Managers. Positions open periodically throughout the year. All openings are posted on the third floor of the Monroe County Public Library. Feel free to check the Library bulletin board for openings. We also have a section on this website... job openings.
CATS often utilizes volunteers in the field during busy production seasons, or to help assist with the basic station operation throughout the year. Stop by and fill out a volunteer form.
You may mail, fax, email, or bring in your announcement for the community calendar featured on Channels 12 and 14. If you submit your announcement by fax or mail, please call CATS to confirm the announcement was received. (See the Community Calendar)
You may make a videotaped Public Service Announcement by contacting the Production Manager, Martin O'Neill, at CATS. CATS will also accept pre-recorded Public Service Announcements to play throughout the cablecast day. For more information on Public Service Announcements, call CATS at 349-3111.
CATS has two viewing rooms available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Just come to CATS at the Monroe County Public Library and ask to see a program. You can watch any of the government meetings, or any public or library program, depending on what interests you.
